Q4、My hat is damaged, what can I do?
Hats (especially blocked felts and panamas) are fragile garments. Please handle them with care, and avoid water (yes even at the beach!). They are not waterproof, but rather the opposite, made of natural materials that will not hold shape in the water. Hat Attack is not responsible for damages such as water or cracked hats from wear. However if your hat arrives damaged or your box does not arrive in perfect condition, please reach out to us.
Q5、Are your hats packable? How can I pack a hat for my trip?
Our packable hats are marked “packable” in their description. Not all of our hats are considered packable, but YES, they can be packed if you are careful to stuff the crown of the hat, and then pack carefully around the brim.
Q6、 What is the service life of my hard hat?
A. The hard hats are designed with high quality, wear-resistant materials but it WILL NOT last forever. The protective properties of the helmet WILL be degraded by exposure to many common work nvironments, such as temperature extremes, chemical exposure, sunlight and normal daily wear and tear. The following is a recommend replacement schedule:Hard Hat Suspension – replace after NO MORE THAN 12 months; Entire Hard Hat – replace after NO MORE THAN 5 years.
Remember that these are MAXIMUM useful service life guidelines. Wear or damage noticed during a regular inspection MUST be the determining factor for possible earlier replacement. In any case, ALWAYS replace the hard hat after it has withstood impact or penetration.
Q7、There is a date code on the inside of my hard hat – is this when the service life starts?
A. A hard hat’s service life starts when it is placed in service. This date should be recorded in the helmet, either on the ANSI label or with the use of a date of service label. The “date code” stamped on the inside of your hard hat refers to the date of manufacture, not the starting date for useful service.
Q8、I have a suspension from a manufacturer other than the original manufacturer, can I use it?
A. NEVER attempt to interchange suspensions from one hat manufacturer to another. Use only the appropriate replacement parts from the original manufacturer. If you do not know who manufactured your hard hat you will need to replace the entire hard hat.
Q9、Can I wear my hard hat backwards?
A. This depends on the manufacturer of your hard hat. If the suspension attachment points on your hard hat are the same from front to back, the suspension can be reversed and the cap worn with the brim facing the rear and still meet the requirements of the applicable protective headwear standard. Be sure that the suspension has been reversed so that the nape strap is in the rear. Many hard hat manufactures now offer swing-style suspensions that allow for you to quickly reverse the direction of your hard hat.
Q10、 Can I paint my hard hat?
A. Never paint a hard hat. Paint may chemically attack and damage the hard hat’s shell, thereby reducing the degree of protection originally provided.
Q11、 Can I put anything in the space between the hard hat shell and suspension?
A. Items such as gloves, cigarettes and earplugs should NEVER be stored between the suspension and the shell. This space is needed when the shell and suspension absorbs the energy of an impact. Such objects in this space can transmit large forces to the head and neck, resulting in serious injury or death.
Q12、How do i handle a hat?
Try not to handle a hat by the crown; always try to pick up a hat by the edge of the brim with clean, dry hands. once on the head put into position by adjusting from the crown rather than from the brim. do not get your hat wet, if it does get wet, let it dry naturally; do not force dry it.
Q13、How do i store a hat?
Hat boxes are a great way to keep a hat free of dust and away from the bleaching effect of the sun’s rays. either set the hat on its crown, filled with alkaline tissue paper or use enough tissue so that the weight of the hat is not on the brim. store bows by stuffing tissue in the bows and place in hat box with lid. prop feathers up with tissue paper gently supporting them. veilings need to have tissue to support them in proper shape while storing. other decorative embellishments may need to be covered in tissue to keep them from staining the hat. do not leave your hat in the car or in the sun as the humidity may cause it to lose shape, shrink or distort. hats of any material may be sensitive to prolonged exposure to direct sunlight causing colours to fade.
Q14、How do i clean a hat?
Brush felt and straw hats regularly with a soft bristle brush, going with the nap of the felt. use sticky tape to remove lint and dust from fur and felt hats. do not dry clean or wet clean your hat.
Q15、How should i wear my hat?
That depends on the type of hat it is, you face shape and your outfit. try different positions until you feel comfortable including straight and slightly slanted to one side. however, never wear your hat on the back of your head this can be very unflattering.
Q16、How can i be confident in my hat?

Q17、What colour hat should i go for so it looks good with my outfit?
This depends on the outfit but often a lighter or alternative shade of your outfit will go better. alternatively, if your outfit has more than one colour choose the highlight colour for your headpiece or hat.
Q18、What do i do if my hat is too big?
All hire hats are sent out with hat paddings which can be inserted in the inner headband if your hat is too big. if you are ordering a couture piece then your headsize will have been measured and your hat will fit perfectly.
Q19、How do i measure my head to get the right head size?
